What is the Family Tree Center, Billings?
Back in 1985, a group of volunteers got together to help support families in the local community and prevent neglect and abuse. Four years later, the organization added two, new programs. Community Caring offered volunteer mentors to new or expectant parents and Second Step gave children the opportunity to learn how to solve problems without violence via the Billings’ school system.
Today, the Family Tree Center has grown significantly with home-based visiting programs, parent support groups and the Respite Child Care Program. It was the first organization to offer ongoing, home visiting opportunities to families requesting additional support, address violence prevention activities with children and youth, provide respite care for parents of young children, and offer Nurturing Parenting classes.
They are the only organization in Yellowstone County whose "sole mission is the prevention of child abuse and neglect." And, today, The Family Tree Center is the Billings Exchange Club’s Child Abuse Prevention Center and the co-leader of Prevent Child Abuse Montana.
